How it works
From case inquiry to delivered report, in six steps.
Every retrieval follows the same path. Here’s what happens after you send us a case inquiry, and what we need from you along the way.
- Submit a case inquiryTell us about the vehicle, where it is, and what you need. Every field on the form is required, so have the VIN, vehicle details, vehicle location, and date of incident handy. We respond within 48 hours.
- We schedule the inspectionPayton Lowe or Nikki Sturdivan reach out directly to arrange access to the vehicle, or to confirm where to send a module that has already been removed. If you asked for an expedited window, this is where it gets confirmed.
- InspectionWe come to the vehicle wherever it sits — tow yard, body shop, or storage lot. Or, if the airbag control module has already been removed from the vehicle, it can be sent to our Chattanooga shop and we work from it there.
- Data downloadAirbag control module data is retrieved with the Bosch CDR tool. On 2015–current Toyota and Lexus vehicles, the Techstream add-on can pull an additional download alongside it.
- Review & reportingThe retrieved data is reviewed and prepared into the report. It stays secured with us until it is delivered to the authorized requesting party.
- Report deliveredThe Bosch-generated CDR report is emailed to you as a PDF — the same standardized format attorneys and insurance adjusters already work with.

Your part
What we need from you.
- Where the vehicle is and who to contact for access — a tow yard, body shop, storage lot, or your own location
- The vehicle’s year, make, and model, or the VIN if you have it
- Authorization for the download. Written permission is obtained before we access a vehicle. Once we accept a case, we email the authorization and chain-of-custody agreement for signature before we access the vehicle.
Crash Point provides CDR/EDR data retrieval and reporting only — not full accident reconstruction.
Where the clock starts
An expedited window is timed from when we have the vehicle or the airbag control module in hand, and runs through delivery of your report. Scheduling and shipping sit outside the window.
Selecting an expedited window on the inquiry form is a request — Payton Lowe or Nikki Sturdivan confirm it with you before it’s committed. See Pricing for the surcharges.
How your data is handled
Data downloaded from a vehicle is kept secured until it is delivered to the authorized requesting party.
The case inquiry form is for initial contact only. It is not a secure evidence submission or case management system, so please don’t send case files or sensitive documents through it.
