Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 29, 2026
Crash Point Data Imaging (“we,” “us”) provides mobile crash data retrieval (CDR/EDR) services. This policy describes how we handle information collected through our website, crashpointdata.com.
Information we collect
Information you provide
When you submit a case inquiry through our website, we collect your name, email address, and phone number, along with any information you choose to include — such as the vehicle identification number (VIN), vehicle details, vehicle location, date of incident, and your message.
VIN lookup
If you provide a VIN, our website submits it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s public vehicle information (vPIC) service to identify the vehicle’s year, make, and model. Only the VIN is sent — your name and contact details are not. The VIN describes the vehicle, not you, and NHTSA is a U.S. government service that does not receive any other information about your inquiry.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, pages visited, and browser type) for security and operational purposes, and loads a script on our pages that gathers basic visitor statistics. We do not use advertising cookies.
Spam protection
Our inquiry form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a submission comes from a person rather than an automated program. To make that check, Turnstile processes information about your browser and device under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. It does not see what you type into the form.
How we use your information
We use inquiry information solely to respond to your request, schedule services, and communicate with you about your case inquiry. We do not sell your information or use it for third-party advertising.
The inquiry form is not a secure evidence channel
Our website form is for initial contact only. It is not a secure evidence submission system, case management system, or a channel for confidential case material. Please do not submit sensitive case documents or evidence through the website.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that operate our website and email (such as our hosting, email, and spam-protection providers), with NHTSA’s public vPIC service for the VIN lookup described above, or when required by law, subpoena, or court order.
Crash data retrieved from vehicles
Data we download from vehicle event data recorders in the course of an engagement is handled under the terms of that engagement and applicable law, and is kept secured until delivered to the authorized requesting party. It is not collected through, or connected to, this website.
Your choices
You may contact us to ask what information we hold about you from a website inquiry, or to request its correction or deletion, by emailing plowe@crashpointdata.com or nsturdivan@crashpointdata.com.
Children
Our services and website are directed at professionals and adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above reflects the latest revision.
